Bring the family, there’s plenty to do and fabulous places to stay.
It’s a small village with a lot going on. There are 4 pubs, a reservoir with a hydroelectric scheme which provides the power for the village and a great village shop and cafe.
Because it’s got the canal, the river, the reservoir and wonderful trails up into the Brecon Beacons, it’s the start point of many an epic event – the Midnight Mountain Marathon, the Brecon Ultra, Tor-y-Foel race, Sleepwalker Night Race and the Canal Raft Race to name but a few. It’s got amazing cycling, both road and mountain, on the door step and most of our cottages in Talybont have space to store your bike.
If you’re here for the first Wednesday in the month, bring a bottle and take in a film with the locals at Talybont Flicks or if you’d rather, go to Pie Night at The Star!
Kids will love the local playground, the canal for a flat walk or cycle, and there are plenty of activities within a short drive. There’s the Brecon Mountain Railway, Brecon Play Barn, Cantref Adventure Farm and plenty more.
But where to stay? Well, we have quite a few cottages in Talybont, but for a big group, have a look at Gilestone Farm. It’s beautiful, with loads of space for the whole family. It’s got a wonderful garden, four-poster beds, wood fires, a traditional range cooker and a fantastic atmosphere. I can pretty much guarantee you a great holiday!
