The perfect conditions for a little sledging...
The perfect conditions for a little sledging…

It may be a couple of weeks since the festive period was in full swing, but finally Britain has been blessed with snow! This doesn’t have to be all bad news, either: all the main roads are well gritted, the walking paths are that bit prettier and, once you’ve reached your accommodation of choice, there’s plenty of fun to be had out on the snow-clad slopes.

We’ve got a few properties that are great if you’re looking to do some sledging, here are our suggestions:

Cynfin Barn and Stable – All the sledging fun you could possibly ask for with a huge range of footpaths and fields accessible right from the doorstep. http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/CYNFB

Alexanderstone Manor – You can walk straight from the house out onto the Brecon Beacons, while the nearest pub is just a mile away if you’re in need of a post-sledging hot meal! http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/ALEXA

Nuthatch Cottage – The lightly sloping hillside just outside this property makes it ideal if you want to keep an eye on the little ones while they enjoy the snow, or even if you want to join them. http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/NUTH

Hafod-y-Blodau – You’ll have great fun picking up a little speed as you glide down the hills that start right at the doorstep, with stunning views all around if you’ve got time to take a glance. http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/HBLOD

Old Barn Lodge – With hills and fields in all directions you can guarantee a great time in the snow, not to mention a quiet one; you’re likely to have the area completely to yourselves thanks to the isolated location. http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/OLDBA

Dew Cottage – This cosy cottage is hidden away on the owner’s 400-acre working farm, but don’t worry, you won’t be needing to slalom your way around farm animals as long as you ask the owners about the best routes. http://www.breconcottages.com/cottage-details/DEW

And that’s not all – the likes of Pen-yr-Heol Barn, Old Crofftau, Cae Marchog, Foxglove Cottage and Aber Llech Coach House are all surrounded by rugged hillsides that are perfect for sledging if the snow keeps falling!
